Ori and the Will of the Wisps has been delayed exactly one month from it’s initially February 11th date to March 11th, 2020.
To make up for it, developer Moon Studios released a short new trailer.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the sequel game to 2015’s Ori and the Blind Forest. With it’s refined metrovania platform-adventure gameplay and moving soundtrack, it made waves as one of the surprise hits of that year.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps was announced at E3 2017. It will be available in 4K UHD as a Xbox One X Enhanced and Xbox Play Anywhere title. But for many of us, the important bit is that it will be available on Xbox Game Pass as a day one release.
If you don’t have Xbox Game Pass, you can also play it on Windows 10 PC or get the game from Steam. The MSRP is $29.99.
Also unveiled is the Collector’s Edition of the game, available at select retailers. The MSRP for this is $49.99.
For the extra $20, you get:
- The Art of Ori and the Will of the Wisps book
- Piano Collections Ori and the Will of the Wisps soundtrack CD
- Iconic golden feather SteelBook case
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps original soundtrack for MP3 download
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps for Xbox One
What are your thoughts on the Collector’s Edition? I wish the steelbook showcased some of the amazing artwork.
Unfortunate Timing
The original February date was perfect and it’s unfortunate they couldn’t meet it. The month of March turns out to be really bad timing.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is out the 3rd of that month which I think will overshadow and take away a lot of focus from this game. Bookending it will be Nioh 2, which comes out two days after Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
Perhaps Microsoft wanted to sandwich the game in there so March wouldn’t be dominated completely by two Playstation exclusives. The end of Q1 is looking to heat things up!
